ND Parks and Rec wants your Input

Posted:

93% of North Dakotans are interested in outdoor Recreation.
And the State Parks and Rec Department wants to know how to improve the outdoor areas where you like to spend your free time.

Every 5 years the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department asks for public input on how to improve the state's recreation areas.
The 2013-2017 North Dakota State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan helps the department know what attractions are being used the most.
Arik Spencer with Parks and Rec says they distribute more than one million dollars annually to different projects across the state.

(Arik Spencer / ND Parks and Rec) "Trails are always a huge priority. People are always very passionate about trails. We saw that in the last SCORP and that continues in this SCORP. Some of the things they talk about is wanting more amenities along trails. Paved trails in town or more primitive trails out of town in state parks, or throughout North Dakota. They want bathrooms, running water, things like that."

Spencer says they are also seeing more interest in canoeing and kayaking facilities.
