Red Sage Swim Around New Town Bridge

Posted: Updated:

Personal challenges are important when it comes to improving skills.
But applying those skills to improve a community makes for a satisfying achievement.

That's what keeps drawing Mark Fox into the deep.
As he's done for seven years, Fox will be swimming across Lake Sakakawea at the Four Bears Bridge --- seven times.
He swims to benefit a non-profit called RED SAGE or Resource and Economic Development and Strategic Alliance for Growth and Education.
RED SAGE supports youth in the area who need funding for medical expenses, athletic, art or spiritual youth experiences.
This year the goal is to raise $25,000.

(Mark Fox, www.redsage.net) "Every year I've gone further. We started with a three mile swim. We're going to be up to 12 miles now. So personally it's been an intriguing opportunity to really try something difficult and hard and I've been able to do it each year. But the main thing is, we're getting an opportunity to draw attention and raise money for the kids."

Fox was planning to dive in Tuesday Aug. 21, but due to injury, the swim has been postponed to 5:30 a.m. August 29th.
