Teacher of Year Honored

Posted: Updated:

Monday morning's kick-off to the school year for Minot was capped with a big announcement for one long-time teacher.
Ken Disher...a math teacher at Central Campus was named teacher of the year for the 2011-2012 year.

Disher has spent his entire teaching career at Minot Public -- two years teaching science and the rest in mathematics.
He also found success coaching swimming and diving -- brining numerous titles to the Magician program.
He received a standing ovation from colleagues this morning...saluting a man who has given nearly four decades of service to students in the Magic City.

(Ken Disher - MPS Teacher of the Year) "It is overwhelming to be up here representing this great district and this is not easy for me!"

Disher dedicated his honor to teachers and staff throughout the district that had homes hit by flooding last year.
He said the professionalism that they showed in the classroom, while at the same time dealing with such personal loss, made them all 'teacher's of the year' as well.
