The Medcenter-Sanford Merger is Complete

Posted:

The signs are everywhere that Sanford Heath is here to stay.

Medcenter One and Sanford employees merge into one health system unit.

Wednesday the new Sanford signs are on display throughout the campus downtown.

Employees stepped out in their scrubs, new and old uniforms to listen to the president of Sanford speak.

Board members say that the Bismarck Sanford will be the crowned jewel of the Sanford Health Systems, and other officials say Medcenter's management leaders have been forward-thinking to make this transition happen.

"Those groups are stellar that they brought to you and brought to Bismarck what needed to be done in healthcare, but they also had the vision of what can happen in the future and the demands that are being placed on all of the providers and all health care organizations to meet the needs of western North Dakota." says Becky Nelson/Sanford Health chief operating officer.

In case you were wondering, Medcenter One's, Meddy Bear is still part of the Sanford Health family.

Although all Sanford employees get to celebrate, long-time employees say it's a mixed feeling Wednesday.

"I'm excited because I like change, I'm a real change person but at the same time I'm sad like I was when Bismarck hospital became Medcenter, I graduated from Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing so then it went on to become Medcenter One School of Nursing, so you kind of feel a little lost, but at the same time you're excited for all the change." says Sandy Fleck/Medcenter One for 20 years.

The new Sanford Health commercial will also begin airing this week.

June is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness month. The disorder affects thousands of combat veterans every year, many of whom never seek out help. According to the Department of Veteran Affairs,
The Veterans Affairs Clinic in Fargo has been working on their outreach across the state, they want more soldiers to get screened, but can't force it either.
