KX News Nominated for Six Emmys

Posted: Updated:

Now, a moment to blow our own horn a bit.

KX News has been nominated to win Regional Emmy Awards in six categories.

All six are related to our 171 hours of round-the-clock coverage of the 2011 Mouse River flood and the flood's aftermath.

KX News has been nominated alongside KSTP and KARE-11 of Minneapolis and KCCI of Des Moines for Breaking News Coverage.

We're nominated along with WCCO of Minneapolis for Continuing Coverage in a 24 hour period.

In the category called Continuing Coverage with no time limit, we're nominated along with KSTP and KARE-11 of the Twin Cities, and KCCI of Des Moines.

For our news special "Tale of the Mouse," we're nominated alongside KCCI, KELO of Sioux Falls, Channel 12 of the Twin Cities.

For internet coverage, we're nominated along with KMSP, KSTP, and Fox Sports North of the Twin Cities.

And KXMC is one of three stations nominated for overall Station Excellence, alongside WCCO and KARE-11.

KXMC's general manager and the chairman of Reiten Television David Reiten says the nomination for station excellence is a great honor.

(David Reiten, Reiten Television Chairman) "We know at Reiten Television that we did our job. We were on call 24/7 during this time and it wasn't for the Emmy nominations that we did this. We did it for our community, our state, and our viewers. That was why we did it and it's why we will always do it and it's why I never want to go through this again for as long as I live."

Reiten says it's the first time a North Dakota TV station has been nominated for the Emmy's Station Excellence category.

In addition to the six nominations for KX News, KXMC's production department received three nominations.

The regional Emmys will be awarded at the end of September in Minneapolis.
