Mandan Rural Celebrates 50 Years

Firefighters take a break to show kids how cool their job can be.

Mandan Rural Fire celebrates its 50th anniversary with an open house-- letting families see the fire station, eat some lunch, and play games.

They also get to take rides in fire trucks, and meet smokey the bear.

One of the most popular things for the kids is using a fire hose to knock over boards shaped like fire with some help from the volunteers.

What was your favorite part? "The water thing. Yea that was cool," said Thomas a self proclaimed future firefighter.

Thomas's parents say he is definitely leaning toward being a firefighter when he grows up.
