Former Insurance Agent Sentenced to Prison

Bismarck, ND -

A former Insurance Agent goes to prison for six years for stealing money from his clients.

53 year Brent Kitzan plead guilty today to 27 felonies.

Kitzan stole over one million dollars from clients between March 2003 and December 2011.

Kitzan collected insurance premiums but never sent the money to insurance companies.

He also pocketed money from clients that he was supposed to invest, however Kitzan was not registered as a broker.

Kitzan was sentenced to six years in prison but has 171 years of prison time hanging over his head if he fails to pay restitution or comply with his probation.

Assistant Burleigh County State's Attorney, Jeff Ubben, says Kitzan has paid some of the money back to clients but still owes former clients almost $750,000.
