Pepsi Honors Employee for 60 Years of Dedication on the Job

Posted: Updated:

Alex Benz has 60 years on the job with the Pepsi company in Mandan.

He was featured at a national convention recently for his dedication and loyalty.

"Pepsi is my favorite pop." says Benz.

This week, local employees celebrate him.

"Alex and I are pretty close, I pretty much consider him a grandpa." says Mike Hatzenbuhler/Product Availability Manager/7 years.

"He buys people pop every day whether you want it or not, it's his little one on one time with you, he's very generous." says Mike Bryant/Location Manager for 1 year.

Within minutes of meeting Alex, he offered to buy me and my cameraman Tom a soda.

"He's very gracious, tomatoes, cucumbers, buys you a pop, cookies and he makes sure to rally us up for break." says Bryant.

Sweeter than his treats is what he shares after six decades of experience.

"I walked out and shook Alex's hand and his first question was how old are you, so I knew I had a lot of work to do, to earn his trust, we've became pretty good buddies." says Bryant.

"He's done an excellent job, Mike, both Mikes, not to brag, but I've been here 60 years and I know who's good and who's not good!" says Benz.

He brings so much more than that to the workplace.

From treats to high fives to smiles, it all adds up.

"It's not for the 50 cents I lost, it's for the business." says Benz.

"What he has done here will never be duplicated." says Bryant.

Alex moved to America from Germany in 1949 when he was just 25 years old.

Friday, Pepsi workers welcome everyone to come meet Alex and see the business he's been at for 60 years.

You can stop by Pepsi in Mandan from nine a.m. to noon on Friday:

2517 34th Street Northwest Mandan, ND.
