New Schools Mean Rezoning In Bismarck

Posted:

With the new schools being built in the Bismarck School District, many parents might be wondering if their child will be going to a different school after the new buildings are complete.

Superintendent Tamara Uselman says the board is going to work with their planner and form a team of around 50 people to re-zone the school.

The board includes school employees, school board members as well as community representatives.

Uselman says they'll hold as many as five meetings to gather input.

"We'll have a public forum as well and after all of that is done we'll be rolling around the spring of the year and the board will take a recommendation from the committee and then the board will make a decision about final boundaries," Superintendent Tamara Uselman said.

It'll be a few years before the new high school will be complete, and the district is hoping the new elementary schools will be up and running by next fall, but they're working on a plan in case they aren't complete until later on in the school year.

"How do we setup shop to get through part of the year before we go into the new space, so we don't have a concrete answer but we're certainly watching that and thinking about it," Uselman said.
