Bus Driver Thomas Griak Resigns After DUI Charge

Posted: Updated:

The Bismarck school bus driver involved in Wednesday's DUI charge has resigned.

41-year-old Thomas Griak submitted his resignation Thursday morning.

He was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

A parent had reported smelling alcohol on Griak's breath Wednesday morning during the morning bus route.

A letter recommending termination had been sent from Darin Scherr--the director of facilities and transportation--to Superintendent Tamara Uselman.

Scherr says in ten years on the job there has been only one instance of a driver being fired for DUI.

That happened four years ago, but the driver received the DUI after hours and not while driving a bus.
