Art might not be everyone's expertise, but it's something that every student has the opportunity to learn in the Bismarck School District.
At Roosevelt Elementary, every teacher is responsible for teaching their students art along with other subjects.
For Ali LaRock art is something she's pretty good at, which is why she's giving an art lesson to these teachers, who can then pass it on to their students.
"We started off with working in the sketch book because I wanted them to understand how important of a tool the sketch book is," Ali LaRock said.
After sketching, the teachers moved on to painting.
"We discussed twilight and what happens to the sky at twilight and the changes in the color," 2nd grade teacher Janel Spaeth said.
It isn't just the teachers at Roosevelt Elementary taking part in this workshop, the principal decided to show up as well.
"We do lots of reading, math, which are incredibly important, but in order to produce well rounded children, it's important to take time for the arts," Principal Shawn Oban said.
After today these teachers will have more than just the basics of art, but enough to teach their students how to make a masterpiece.
"We talked about silhouette trees, we practiced drawing trees, painting trees and putting those lessons together," Spaeth said.
"I think it's important for all of our teachers and especially students, that there's a lot more to education than just the basics," Oban said.
For one teacher, she plans to take this art lesson, and make a masterpiece of her own.
"I'm retiring this year and I'm going to paint after I retire, I just decided that today," Cheryl Huber said.

The workshop is made possible through a grant from the North Dakota Council on The Arts, plus a donation from Basin Electric.
