Ideas For Downtown Parking Solutions

Posted: Updated:

One of the biggest problems that faces growing towns, including Bismarck's, is parking.

As five new businesses move into downtown Bismarck over the next month--the problem won't be drawing people to those businesses--but finding a place for them to park.
Bismarck's Parking Authority is considering a park-and-ride shuttle similar to what Rochester Minnesota currently has. The Downtown conference invited Anthony Knauer from Rochester to talk about various ways to handle parking problems. He says downtown visitors should get priority

Anthony Knauer with the City of Rochester says, "That's a sign that the downtown is vibrant there's activity going on and that's a great problem to have and if there's any key to parking I think all of us in a downtown that work downtown have to realize that our customers and hotel visitors they have priority of parking."

Knauer says the solution for parking problems depends on the density of the downtown.
