Possible Meningitis Product Found In N.D.

Posted:

Six medical facilities in North Dakota have received products from the company blamed for a meningitis outbreak in the US.

The facilities are in Williston, Grand Forks and Fargo.

Kirby Kruger with the North Dakota Department of Health says that no products in the six North Dakota facilities are part of the original recall, but they are other types of the original medication.

The product is a steroid that is used for pain and is normally injected into the body.

The Health Department notified the six locations, and they're in the process of notifying patients.

"We believe that the risk is quite low for these individuals in North Dakota, and we believe the number is very few that have received the products," Kirby Kruger said.

No cases of the meningitis outbreak have been reported in North Dakota.

Health officials say four more people have died nationally, bringing the number of deaths to 19.

In all, about 250 people in 15 states were sickened in the outbreak.
