Park District Progress

Posted: Updated:

Winter is approaching...but work to rehab some of the city park facilities will continue through the coldest months of the year.

Work right here actually.

The park district recently awarded a contract to get Roosevelt Park Pool fixed up and hopefully ready for a normal opening in 2013.

Ron Merritt, the city park director said this week that crews are getting ready to get the work done on the pool building, pumping and electrical systems.

And next door, the work at the Zoo will continue as well...and perhaps, come summer of 2013...the Roosevelt area will look a bit like it did pre-flood...starting with the pool...

(Ron Merritt - Minot Park Director) "They should be getting started on that pretty soon. We have some more bids that are getting ready to go out. Still lots of work to be done at the zoo and I think we are looking pretty good that we will be able to open up the zoo in the spring." >

Merritt says as buildings at the zoo are completed, animals will start to come back to the Magic City -- in fact the primates already are back as their winter housing has been rehabbed post-flood.
