The race for U.S. Senate in North Dakota has been decided.
2,800 votes is all that separated Republican Rick Berg and Democrat Heidi Heitkamp.
That difference... could trigger a possible recount...but not an automatic one.
When a candidate wins by less than two percent, according to North Dakota law -- a recount can be requested.
However, Rick Berg announced at 12:45 Wednesday he will concede to Heitkamp.
He commended her "passion".
The mood was certainly festive last night in Bismarck where the Democrats were together, including Heitkamp.
Nationally, most political commentators -- including some democrats -- were conceding this race to the Republican Berg, but Heitkamp took an early lead in the count last night and never let go.
