Clothing Drive for Sandy Survivors

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of thousands of Americans along the northeast coast are STILL without power --- ten days after the historic superstorm Sandy.

Now there is a way for you to help.

The Minot Rotary Club and Mary Me Bridal have teamed up for a community wide clothing drive.

A New Jersey prom shop called Diane & Company --- which is also ten days without power --- has become a collection and distribution point working with the Salvation Army.

Mary Me Bridal is taking care of local collection and contact with Diane & Company and the Minot Rotary Club will be assisting with shipping costs.

(Mary Keller, Mary Me Bridal Owner) "It seemed like communities across the nation reached out to help us in our time of need. Especially right away when people, they need so much! They lost everything. They didn't necessarily evacuate the contents of their homes like we did."

The clothing drive will continue for the next several weeks.

Donations can be left at Mary Me Bridal during normal business hours.

The Minot Rotary Club will cover the first $500 in shipping costs --- individuals or businesses willing to help with additional shipping costs can contact Mary Me Bridal at 837-6279.
