Homeless Coalition Gets Donation

Posted: Updated:

'Holidays' and 'homeless' don't go well together.

But Director Mac McLeod says the Minot Area Homeless Coalition is still functioning at capacity.

In an effort to continue the mission of the Minot Area Homeless Coalition, the Community Leadership Institute presented a trailer full of dry goods, gas cards and monetary donations from area businesses today.

The grand total is not yet complete but Megan Laudenschlager says it could be well over $5,000.

(Megan Laudenschlager, Community Leadership Institute) "To pull together for one common goal and to actually make an impact is a great achievement no matter what organization you're raising funds for."

(Sheila Johnson, Community Leadership Institute) "The perception in North Dakota is that there is no homeless here and I think that's a misnomer. Especially with everything that's been going on in our state."

The Community Leadership Institute is a nine week course hosted by the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Minot Area Homeless Coalition donation was one of the many projects the 23 students achieved this fall.

The course is designed to introduce people to what Minot has to offer in an effort to support community involvement.
