A local charitable organization recently awarded upwards of 53-thousand dollars to various causes, all designed to benefit women and children in the community.
Each year Power of the Purse grants a generous amount of funds to a few organizations in the Minot Community and this year
they have chosen six different organizations to distribute over 50-thousand dollars to.
That money will help purchase a storage shed for the Dream Catchers, toys for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center's children's playroom and furnish the interior of the Discovery Barn at the Roosevelt Park Zoo.
Other recipients include the Fighting Chance Program and the YWCA, the Salvation Army and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library support for the Souris Valley United Way.
(Gina Blasing, President, Power of the Purse Organization, Minot) "We find that if we pull together and put our energies and our heads together, we can do a significant amount more for that area that we've made a commitment to which are the women and children programs."
