It was out with the old -- and in with the new today at the Minot Auditorium.
After about 15 years, the old wood floor is finally being replaced.
This afternoon, city staff along with the Minot State Baseball team were hard at work laying the some 200 pieces that will make up the new floor for basketball games here.
Close to 200 games between high school and recreation will be played here each year, and Recreation Director Scott Collins says the time to make the switch had arrived.
(Scott Collins - Minot Recreation Director) "It is going to be really nice to see when the bleachers are pulled and we are out here playing on it. It really dresses it up. The other floor was really nice and this is the same company. We wanted a unique look this time, looking around the state and magazines and NBA floors, we thought about Parkay and decided to go with two-tone and keep it clean."
The price tag for the new floor is about 90 thousand dollars -- and the old floor was actually traded in...bringing the cost to the city to about 80 thousand or so.
Games here kick off next month.
