North Dakota is already a big winner...and the drawing hasn't even happened...
The state takes home a portion of sales.
The money goes into the state's general fund-- as well as two separate special funds.
And with more and more people stopping to pick up their potential winner-- that's just adding to what the state will take in.
Randy Miller, the Director of North Dakota lottery says, " When the jackpot reaches this level we do get a dramatic increase in sales. Yesterday our sales were 420,000 dollars. and it wouldn't surprise me with today for tonight's drawing that our total sales will reach one million dollars just in today alone."
So lets just say the sales stayed at 420-thousand dollars.
The state gets 26 percent of that, so just over 109-thousand dollars.
