Although the team still doesn't have a senior in its lineup, this year's Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers wrestling team is hoping to be a contender in the region. 18 wrestlers are out for this year's team with 9 wrestlers returning with experience. Three of those wrestlers were regional champions and the team sent

7 wrestlers to last year's state tournament. Head coach Aaron Huck who is in his 3rd year as head coach says the team is hoping to fill a full lineup once his wrestlers start spreading out and finding their weight class. Aaron Huck, Lakers Wrestling Coach:We have a few state returners a couple of regional champions and we do have some new wrestlers on the team also so we're building again this year, we're a young team. Right now I think our strengths are gonna be in the lower to middle weights, struggling a little bit with having a little bit of overlap with wrestlers all making the same weight, hopefully after Christmas we can get them spread out a little bit more and start filling the weight classes. This is the 2nd year in a row we haven't had any seniors on the team but like I said we just keep building and hopefully we can end the season sending quite a few to state and get some state placers this year.

Cole Peterson, Junior:Things are looking good. We still got some young wrestlers but I think they've come a long way from last year and I think we have a pretty good chance in the region.

Justin Thomas, Junior:All of us little guys finally got a little bigger so our little kids are really, really young, I think there all 7th graders but 126 and on should be pretty good, we'll be experienced.

The Lakers open their season tomorrow night hosting Rolla and Stanley in a triangular in Des Lacs beginning at 5 p.m.
