More power may soon be on it's way to western North Dakota.
Basin Electric filed a notice of intent to the Public Service Commission, outlining their plan to build more power plants at a location west of Watford City.
The plants will be built at the Lonesome Creek Station, where a unit is already under construction.
This new plan is phase two of the project, adding two more units at 45 megawatts a piece.
"Natural gas will be the fuel for these units It's right near a fuel source, so we'll tap that pipeline to provide fuel for us, and it's used a lot in peaking stations, like these stations will be," Daryl Hill said.
Basin Electric hopes to start construction in 2014 and have the units online in early 2015.
