How far would you go in the name of a good cause?
A group taking on the "Polar Plunge" will give the phrase "Freezin' for a Reason" a new meaning.
The Polar Plunge is a popular fundraiser for the Special Olympics - shown here in a promotional video made in Hawaii.
However, this is the first time the Polar Plunge will be taking place in Minot --- and there's no need for the ice cubes here.
And if the icy temperatures weren't 'extreme' enough, there will be prizes for creativity.
(Daniel Bower, Special Olympics Advocate) "There are folks that are going to extremes to develop costumes or practicing their belly flop to be able to give back to the community."
The Polar Plunge will take place on Sunday outside Minot's Sleep Inn with registration starting at noon.
Bring a minimum of $75 to take the plunge, or if you're "chicken" - join the Chicken Coop for $30.
All the proceeds will help programs through the North Dakota Special Olympics.
