Horses Shot Near Watford City

Two horses are shot and killed south of Watford City.

The incident happened about 2 miles east on the north side of the Long X Bridge, which is about 15 miles south of Watford City.

The owners found the horses near the river.

The owner's brother,r Russ Kling, believes the shootings took place between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

He says one mare was shot eight times, the other mare was shot in the back of the head.

He says the horses were laying within 3 feet of each other--while their 2 colts were left to suffer at side.

The McKenzie County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
