Investors Buy into Local Newspaper

Posted:

A local newspaper is sold.

A group of investors led by Gary Emineth buys into the Great Plains Examiner.

The paper will continue to be published monthly out of Bismarck beginning in January.

Emineth says he wants it to continue to have a local focus with an eye on the Bakken.

He says although he's known as a staunch republican, the goal isn't to provide a biased, right-wing newspaper.

And were gonna give democrats a fair shake and were gonna give republicans and were gonna give em both a little hard time and just relate it to the issues that are out there before spending issues, what's going on in the Bakken and what's the priorities for the state and ask good, tough questions," says investor Gary Emineth.

Emineth says Matt Bunk--the founder and publisher--will remain a partner.

He says they are looking at keeping current contributors, but he says he hasn't had a chance to visit with them yet.

Emineth also owns a radio station in Tioga with Scott Hennen.
