Two North Dakota Soldiers Reportedly Killed in Afghanistan

Posted:

North Dakota soldiers are killed in Afghanistan.

We know at least 2 soldiers are dead following a road side bomb incident in Afghanistan.

The soldiers are with the 818th Sappers based out of Williston and Hazen.

The group left Bismarck in April.

The Sappers mission is a trailblazing mission -- keeping roads safe and clear for the military and citizens of Afghanistan.

We are waiting for confirmation of the names and ages of the soldiers who were killed.

The North Dakota National Guard has a strict policy to NOT release any information until 24 hours after an incident to allow for family notification.

We are expecting full details around 9:00 tonight from the National Guard.

Not including these latest fatalities-- 24 North Dakota military service members or members that have close tied to the state -- have died in the war on terror.

12 served with the National guard.

The Last North Dakota guard member death was in November of 2006.
