The shopping day came to a close a bit early Monday at Dakota Square Mall in Minot following a bomb threat that was called into Carmike Cinemas.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident after the evacuation and sweep of the mall found nothing of concern.
But it certainly did create some organized chaos around six o'clock.
The entire mall was evacuated as a precaution -- and that meant lots of people having to drop what they were doing and leave.
Three weeks before Christmas...not exactly what businesses would hope for.
But even though it may have meant a loss of some business, the proper call was made.
That according to Aaron Schmitz, the general manager of Minot's Scheels.
He says the decision to evacuate made sense...and people's safety is more important than making a sale or two toward the end of the business day.
(Aaron Schmitz - Scheels of Minot) "It is one of those things you don't even have to think about...you just close your doors and hope the customers understand and come back another day. Hopefully we will get those sales back."
Dakota Square Mall was back open with regular business hours today.
