Mixed Doubles Curling in Bismarck

Posted: Updated:

This weekend the Bismarck Curling Club hosts the 2012 Mixed doubles nationals bringing some of the best 2 member coed curling teams in the nation.

The athletes put in time with one another to prepare for their chance at moving on to the World Championships in New Brunswick Canada.

The two teams curling in the finals have 2 different types of relationships.

One team has only been playing together for a month or so-- they became teammates in an unusual way.

(Andy Jukich Tina Kelly) "Facebook sad but true. right off the bat I went to Duluth a few times just to kind of meet and practice a little bit. We've played a few bonspiel prior to this

Their opponents have been playing together for ten years.

And they happen to be married as well-- but they say curling hasn't hurt their relationship by any means.

(Maureen Stolt and Peter Stolt)"we get along really well actually for us it works out pretty good. other couples have a little bit harder time with that I think but we do pretty well with it. "

The winner of the Mixed Doubles National tournament will represent the USA in the World Championships.
