The oil boom has caused western North Dakota landowners to pursue more protection from the legislature.
North Dakota Minority Leader Kenton Onstad is a landowner in Western North Dakota and plans to use his influence to help better protect landowners such as himself. State Representatives will be lobbying in January for Fair and Equitable Treatment of Property Owners which will implement guidelines that will protect landowners from any damage done to their land during the drilling of oil. State Representative Onstad believes it is important to embrace the oil and gas exploration while protecting landowners rights.
