Prayers Go Out to Victims' Families

Posted: Updated:

The school shooting is still on a lot of people's minds and prayers are going out close to home.

"We do just lift up those families in Connecticut, Father God, what a tragedy that happened..."

At Word of Faith Church in Bismarck, teenage students gather for their weekly Sunday evening service.

The group gathers for fun and worship, but like so many church services across the nation, they are talking about the horrific tragedy.

"I think it will definitely be on a lot of people's minds, and definitely in our prayers, and just something like this can sometimes spark something in people to start caring and to really realize what's important in their lives." says Lindsay Peterson/CHS Senior.

Family pastor Cody Daner says it hit home with him because he has a daughter who just turned seven.

He says she is a little too young to understand, but he did talk with his ten-year-old about what happened.

At church, he's noticed all ages of the congregation are talking about the incident and sending their prayers.

"We're so far away, it can kind of get put in the rear-view mirror pretty quickly, but those families have to deal with it every day, every hour, every minute forever, so we just continually keep them in prayer." says Cody Daner/Family Pastor.
