Longbeards Donate Turkeys

Posted: Updated:

It just wouldn't be a full Christmas for many families in the region without the Souris River Basin Longbeards...

Again this year, the Longbeards raised thousands of dollars -- and with those funds have put together baskets full of food for a complete Christmas feast.

Monday morning, the Longbeards along with members from Community Action were packing up the boxes and shipping them out at Marketplace Foods.

Percy Ottmar with the Longbeards says upwards of six thousand dollars was raised all around the region to put together dozens of boxes...

Willy Solderholm with Community Action says especially this year, the work of the Longbeards is much appreciated...because the need is even greater than 2011.

(Willy Soderholm - Community Action) "It is something that I guess we can depend on the Longbeards to provide these turkeys. This year there are 75 turkeys going out to 75 families and hopefully will create a little bit better Christmas for them."

While 75 baskets were prepared...the Longbeards were able to donate hundreds of more turkeys that are being dispersed throughout the region this Christmas season.
