Steps Being Made To Prevent Flooding Along Missouri River

Posted:

A new pump station will soon be built in Bismarck to help with flood protection.

At tonight's Burleigh County Commission meeting, commissioners voted unanimously to approve two projects including the new pump station.

The new pump will be placed near Tavis Road in Bismarck.

The other project is the dredging that was done last month to alleviate issues that could arise with a harsh winter.

The dredging project has already been completed, but tonight commissioners approved to pay for a percentage of the cost.

"Those two projects are directly associated with protecting the sanitary plant for the city of Bismarck and protecting large portions of the south part of Bismarck, and south of Burleigh County," Marcus Hall said.

The new pump station will cost two-million dollars and is expected to be complete in 2013.
