School Officials Deal With Gun Rumors

Posted: Updated:

If you have school-age children in Minot, perhaps you've heard the rumor that's spreading quickly this week.

The rumor is that someone is bringing weapons to schools in Minot this Friday.

School district officials have heard the buzz too - and they're taking the threats seriously.

So seriously, that Minot Police officers will be stationed at secondary schools within the Minot Public system this Friday.

Officials with the school system say they are working to get to the bottom of the threat -- but that they must listen to what's being said and take steps to ensure the safety of the students.

Police officers will be at Minot High's Magic City Campus, Central Campus, Jim Hill Middle School, and Eric Ramstad Middle School at the Auditorium.

In fact, officers are already patrolling randomly inside the schools this week to act as a deterrent and show that the situation is being taken very seriously.

School officials say they are struggling to get to the bottom of where these rumors started that guns and knives would be coming to school this Friday.

It is expected that officers will be at the entrances to the buildings this Friday morning -- and patrolling the halls of the schools throughout the day.
