Tonight, the Bismarck City Commission votes for a new Police Chief.
This month, three candidates completed interviews and exercises to give the City an idea of who would perform best as Police Chief.
The three finalists were long-time Bismarck Deputy Chief of Police Dan Donlin, Christopher Elg of Louisiana, and John Zapalac from California.
Tonight the commission made their decision.
<< (Parrell Grossman / Commissioner, Bismarck Board of City Commissioners) "After what I consider a very exhaustive and thorough review of the candidates and the needs of our community, I'm going to recommend to this City Commission that we first offer the position to Christopher Elg, and then, we've also certified, or we would certify Dan Donlin.">>
The commission voted unanimously to offer the job to Christopher Elg.
Elg also applied for the Police Chief position in Bellingham, Washington and South Bend, Indiana.
He was not offered the job in Washington, but is a finalist for Police Chief in South Bend, Indiana.
Elg has until midnight on Thursday, December 20th to accept the Bismarck position.
If he does not accept the position, it will then be offered to Dan Donlin.
