Some People Have to Travel Christmas Day

Posted:

Hardly a creature was stirring -- and for the most part, neither was anyone or anything at the airport.

Barbara Sharp did manage to catch up with a few who are traveling this Christmas.

Except for security, there isn't much movement out at Bismarck Airport.

Most holiday travelers have gotten to where they're going.

But for some, travel on Christmas Day is a necessity.

(Russ Lange, Texas) "Well, I came back up here to work. They only gave us a week off so had to come up here for work tonight."

Whether for work or pleasure, Bismarck travelers say flying on Christmas Day is an overall good experience.

(Whitney Grover, California) "When you travel on Christmas, everyone's in a good mood. Everyone's saying 'Merry Christmas' to you. And, and plus, you're like the perfect present for your loved ones that you're going to visit, you know. You can't get a better present than a loved one."

(Chris Preston, Colorado) "It was busy, but it wasn't as busy as what it normally is. The people were real nice today. It made it real nice to travel.

Overall, if you have to travel on Christmas Day, you'll find few fellow travelers and otherwise, smooth sailing. For KX News, Bismarck -- on Christmas Day -- I'm Barbara Sharp.

Air travel is expected to pick up again tomorrow as people return home -- or strike out on trips for the New Year.
