A Colorado man arrested after a 33 hour stand off with law enforcement in New Town, will stay in custody on unrelated charges.
32 year old Michael Smith was charged in federal court with felon in possession of a firearm.
During a detention hearing in U.S. Federal Court in Bismarck this morning, Judge Charles Miller ordered Smith to be held in jail on no bond on that charge.
According to court documents, McKenzie County Sheriffs deputies were called to Smith's hotel room at the Four Bears Casino in June.
During a search, they found a 9 millimeter pistol and ammunition along with heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Those convictions prohibit him from possessing firearms.
As far as the stand off Smith was involved in last week, he has not been charged in Mountrail or Federal Court as of today.
