Daycare providers are in high demand in Minot with the ever growing population.
Jordan Pederson takes us to a new daycare center opening up in what used to be the Little Flower Catholic School building.
Owners of Magic City Day-Care, Sarah Seay and husband Erik may be able to alleviate some of the childcare shortages in town.
(Sarah Seay, Daycare Provider, Magic City Day-Care, Minot) "We are expanding our business which has been a dream and a goal of ours kind of ever since we started this."
Seay will be taking over the lower level of the old Little Flower Catholic School building.
After the flood, the Minot Catholic Schools decided not to return to the building but the parish decided to hold onto to building.. hoping to rent it out for childcare purposes.
(Father Fred Harvey, St. Therese Little Flower Church, Minot) "We decided that the lower level could easily be used for that kind of thing and having kids back in the building really meant a lot to us and having it be used for something really great."
The lower level includes 4 classrooms.. each with a bathroom.. and a gymnasium.
(Sarah Seay, Daycare Provider, Magic City Day-Care, Minot) "The building is great. There is a bathroom located in every room. The rooms are huge and the gymnasium is such a blessing. It will be such a great feature of our daily activities."
The center will hold up to 62 children ranging from newborns up to age 12.
Additional staff will have to be hired but the space is now leased and ready to go.
(Father Fred Harvey, St. Therese Little Flower Church, Minot) "We are helping the community. Maybe getting some of the need taken care of. I think that is great news for us and for them. I think everybody is excited."
(Sarah Seay, Daycare Provider, Magic City Day-Care, Minot) "It has been a blessing in disguise. Everything just feels like the Lord has had everything fall into place for us and we are very excite and we are very appreciative and blessed."
Seay and her husband hope to move into the building by middle of January.
