Arizona Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge for Gladstone Incident

Posted:

A 44-year-old Arizona man is charged with attempted murder charge following an incident New Year's Eve in Gladstone.

Stark County States Attorney Tom Henning says Robert York of Phoenix fired a sawed off .20 gauge shotgun near the face of Justin Willis of Gladstone around midnight.

Henning says Willis reported seeing a flash and feeling a burn after the gun was fired. Willis has a pellet lodged below his left eye.

Henning says two brothers from Iowa are charged as accomplices in the case.

Either Rusty or Ryan Shields is alleged to have pulled Willis from the bar where both assaulted him in the parking lot. Willis was knocked to the ground. That's when York showed up with the gun.

Henning says the three men left the scene and went back to a farmyard where they had campers. He says they loaded up a van with their wives and children and headed out. Shortly after they were arrested by local authorities.

Additional charges may be pending. Henning says several witnesses need to be interviewed and that there may have been another incident at the bar.

Bond is set at $250,000 for York and $100,000 each for the Shields brothers.
