The corner of 43rd and Highway 83 will soon be busier.
Kirkwood Ace Hardware owner Jeff Hinz announces plans for a new second location. The new building will sit on one of the hottest pieces of property in Bismarck.
"We've wanted a new store for a long time. This is a big move for us buying a piece of ground like this and get to the north of Bismarck," says Ace Hardware owner Jeff Hinz.
It's hard to wipe the smile off of Jeff Hinz' face. After shopping for the perfect piece of property to build a new store, he found it on a busy, high visibility corner in north Bismarck.
"Were thrilled. Matt Reichert showed us a lot of property this is what we kept coming back to. We have to be convenient for people, we have to be a spot they can get to us. This is that spot. All the houses, all the roads that come to this spot, this is it," says Hinz."
Plans are to break ground this spring and open the new store a year from now. It will be 30,000 square feet--twice as large as the south location. It will have a full greenhouse and full kitchen store with more power equipment and fasteners. And he's adding jobs.
"About 40-50 new people here and hopefully I'll have a job right, but more people some from down south that live in this area will come here and some will stay there--they are already dividing that up and then we'll hire to fill in the places around there,"
Hinz says there are more announcements to come. Other businesses are in negotiations to join him.
"There is one other major business that will be on the property with us and then there will be rental spaces for other folks, small restaurants--things like that hopefully," says Hinz.
Hinz says customers should expect the same quality products and service. He says expect to be taken care of when you walk through the door.
Hinz says he has been working on the deal since last spring--and closed on it about six weeks ago.
