Free Flood Therapy

Posted: Updated:

Eighteen months have passed since the 2011 Mouse River flood.
But for families rebuilding, many emotional impacts are lingering throughout recovery.

A grant from the Minot Area Community Foundation has made two new therapy options available through The Village.
Flood Recovery Mental Health Counseling is being offered for FREE through March of 2014.
The counseling is available for anyone within a twelve mile radius of Minot and services can be conducted in the office or in a person's home - individually or with family.
The second program is called the STARS program and it is tailored specifically for children.
A unique aspect of The Village counseling is that they are looking for ANYONE impacted by the flood - it doesn't necessarily have to be a direct home loss.

(Barbara Fix, The Village, Regional Program Supervisor) "Many people were impacted. And everybody has a relationship with somebody, and so I think that relationship issues are probably the biggest thing that we have when people come."

Again, the counseling services are free.
