Skates hit the ice this morning at the 2013 Magic City International Figure Skating Competition.
The event has been held the first week in January for over 20 years in Minot.

The MAYSA Arena hosts Over 19 different Figure Skating clubs attending the event from all over the state and Canada including Minot's Magic City Figure Skating Club.
200 skaters from ages 3 to 20 can compete in over 15 different events including Dance and Free Skate.
Some events are composed of set routines whereas others focus on certain elements such as spins and jumps.
Minot Coach Heather Brockell says this is a great way for the skaters to show off what they have been working on.

(Heather Brockell, Figure Skating Coach, Minot) "I think one thing that is really nice about his competition that yeah, it is a competition but it fun. It is not like cutting edge and people aren't mean about it. It is a very friendly competition. It is really fun for the girls."

The Magic City International Figure Skating Competition has been held for over 20 years.
