Bismarck Public Schools Proposed Boundaries

Posted:

Some Bismarck students might be going to a different school next year.

On Friday parents received an email mapping out the new proposed school boundaries for Bismarck Public Schools.

Superintendent Tamara Uselman says the committee did a great job making sure the boundaries impacted as FEW families as possible.

"We wanted to reduce the number of kids impacted, we have 11,300 roughly students in Bismarck Public Schools and we're in the neighborhood of 10 percent being impacted by boundaries and then an additional group impacted by transfers," Superintendent Tamara Uselman said.

On Thursday parents are welcomed to attend a public forum.

The forum will be held at Wachter Middle School from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Uselman says it's important for parents to get involved and voice their concerns.

"What the public needs to do is go to one of the stations in the middle school and really state what their issues and concerns are, and someone from the boundary committee will be helping to explain things and also taking feedback," Uselman said.

If you can't make the public forum on Thursday, another one will be held on January 24th at Horizon Middle School.

The boundaries aren't final, the school board will make a final decision at the January 28th school board meeting.
