Abduction Attempt Update

Posted: Updated:

The hunt for the suspect accused of attempting to abduct a mother and child continues today.

Police are following up on leads from witnesses who may have seen the crime in the parking lot of the Virginia Apartments just North of Starbucks.

The crime occurred around 7:20 Monday morning when a mother started her vehicle and went back into her apartment to get her daughter.

After the mother placed her daughter in the backseat, she then got into the driver seat.

It was there the woman found a man wearing a black face mask pointing a gun at her while he was grabbing her daughters jacket.

The mother and daughter were able to escape the vehicle after a struggle.

The suspect fled north.

Police are asking for the citizens of Minot to help in the capture of the suspect.

(Jason Sundbakken, Detective Liuetenant, Minot Police Department)"Without the citizens getting involved and providing us information, it's very difficult for us to do our jobs. That's crucial in us solving any crimes, in particular these type."

The suspect is about six feet tall, was wearing a black face mask and tan carhartt jacket and is said to have a gruff sounding voice.

If you have any information you're asked to call the Minot Police Department at 852-0111.
