New MAFB Commander

Posted: Updated:

A ceremony for the newest commander of the 5th Bomb Wing was held at the Minot Air Force Base earlier today.

Colonel Alex Mezynski replaces previous commander Colonel James Dawkins.

Officers, troops, family members and friends were in attendance to welcome Colonel Mezynski to the base and say goodbye to Colonel Dawkins.

Colonel Mezynski was the Vice Commander of the 2nd Bomb Wing at the Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.

The newest addition to the 5th Bomb Wing believes attention to detail and hard work is the way to maintain an edge over our enemies.

(Col. Alex Mezynski, Commander 5th Bomb Wing) "We stand ready willing and able to deliver devastating fire power, anytime and anywhere. It is only through a continuous effort to further hone our combat edge that we can keep those adversaries at bay. War Birds I look forward to serving besides each and every one of you and continuing the tradition of excellence you have established. Now let's go get it done."

Colonel Mezynski is the 52nd officer to take command at the base.
