Trinity Recognized

Posted: Updated:

There are 999 Primary Stroke Centers across the U.S. and as of today, Trinity Health took that number to one thousand.

Representatives from the Joint Commission and the American Heart Association gathered today recognizing Trinity Health as the one-thousandth Certified Primary Stroke Center in the country.

A Primary Stroke Center is a hospital that has been certified to perform the best practices when it comes to stroke care.

Trinity's approval followed a two-year effort that included putting in place protocols to treat stroke patients within the critical three-hour window that is required to minimize loss of brain tissue.

The 251-bed full service hospital also underwent rigorous on-site review in November of this past year.

(Dr. Maximo Kiok, Trinity Health Neurologist, Minot) "This is an honor for our hospital to have. We have to make sure that we deliver quality care and safe care to our community. The emphasis is always to give the community the best care possible with all our resources."

Nearly 800,000 Americans suffer from a stroke every year.
