Perth software development firm Anahata Technologies Pty Ltd announces it will be using Jenkins for Continuous Integration.
Perth, WA (PRWEB) January 19, 2013
Perth Software Development company Anahata Technologies Pty Ltd announces it will be using Jenkins for Continuous Integration. Jenkins CI is the leading open-source continuous integration server. Built with Java, it provides over 400 plugins to support building and testing virtually any project. This extendable open source continuous integration server supports webhook notifications by using the Notification plugin.
Continuous integration (CI) tools are becoming a bigger deal in the software development world. That’s why Google is helping App Engine developers use Cloudbees’ Jenkins-in-the-cloud tool. For software companies, continuous integration of changes to software code becomes more critical as development teams get bigger and more dispersed. Jenkins is an open-source tool that pulls in all those changes, centralizes them, and goes through changes continuously to verify code quality. The goal is to make both the development and quality assurance (QA) of code faster and more efficient — with fewer round trips.
Jenkins is an open source continuous integration tool written in Java. The project was forked from Hudson after a dispute with Oracle, which claims the right to trademark the Hudson name and has applied for such a trademark as of December 2010.Jenkins provides continuous integration services for software and web application development. It is a server-based system running in a servlet container such as Apache Tomcat. It supports SCM tools including CVS, Subversion, Git, Mercurial, Perforce and Clearcase, and can execute Apache Ant and Apache Maven based projects as well as arbitrary shell scripts and Windows batch commands.
About Jenkins community
Jenkins was originally developed as the Hudson project. During November 2010, an issue arose in the Hudson community with respect to the infrastructure used, which grew to encompass questions over the stewardship and control by Oracle. Negotiations between the principal project contributors and Oracle took place, and although there were many areas of agreement a key sticking point was the trademarked name "Hudson". As a result, on January 11, 2011, a call for votes was made to change the project name from "Hudson" to "Jenkins".
The proposal was overwhelmingly approved by community vote on January 29, 2011 creating the Jenkins project. On February 1, 2011, Oracle said that they intended to continue development of Hudson, and considered Jenkins a fork rather than a rename. Jenkins and Hudson therefore continue as two independent projects, each claiming the other is the fork.
About Anahata Technologies Pty Ltd
Founded in 2010, Anahata Technologies Pty Ltd is a Western Australia privately owned application development consultancy specializing in the analysis, design, implementation and support of cost-effective, custom built software applications.
Anahata’s preferred delivery approach is an iterative, customer centric software development process where business analysts visit customer premises to gather requirements, outline the current business processes and design an improved flow. Once the system requirements are complete, a continuous integration development process allows customers to test the application regularly as it is being built. Upon implementation, customer’s staff is trained on site on the usage of the new system
Anahata offers its customers a 3 month warranty and support period where users can have unlimited phone or email consultation. Customers can access an online task and issue management system to log requests for enhancements (RFEs) or report any defects encountered during the testing or production stages. Anahata seeks to be the most customer centric of all Perth software companies.
Anahata’s preferred technological choice is to deliver cross-platform solutions based on open standards and open source technology that ensure stability, compatibility, and security over a long application lifespan and reduces upfront and ongoing licensing fees.
Anahata is a registered MYOB developer partner and delivers custom software applications that integrate with MYOB products.
