Shooting Suspect Surrenders

Posted: Updated:

A Minot man is in jail, charged with shooting another man last night.

It happened about seven o'clock on Sunday night at the

Holiday Park Trailer Court just east of Minot along Highway 2.

Captain Bob Barnard of the Ward County Sheriff's Department says the victim was shot one time with a handgun after an argument with a roommate.

The victim was taken to Trinity Medical Center, but his name and condition have not been released.

Investigators put out a warrant for 31-year-old Brian Keith Muzzy of Minot, the man they believe did the shooting.

Then, about mid-afternoon, Muzzy turned himself in to authorities in Northwest Minot without incident.

Barnard says the crime was solved thanks to information from witnesses to the shooting.

(Capt. Bob Barnard, Ward County Sheriff's Department) "Witnesses indicated upon the arrival of deputies that the victim had gone back into the trailer, they had seen the suspect near the victim with a handgun, and the suspect had fled on foot, eastbound through the trailer court."

Muzzy is being held without bond at the Ward County Jail, awaiting his initial appearance in court, which should happen tomorrow.

The gun used in the incident has not been recovered.

Barnard says the victim in the shooting is still hospitalized.
