After a big road win over Minot Friday Night-- the Century Boys Basketball team sits at the top of the WDA with a 6 and 1 record.
The win over Minot was a huge boost for the Patriots as they handed the Magicians their First loss in the WDA.
Century is averaging 65 points a game against WDA opponents -- and teams in the West are only averaging 48 points against the Patriots.
Currently the Pats are on a four game win streak.
Coach Darin Mattern says all of his players need to keep playing like starters if they want another win on Thursday against BHS and stay on top of the standings.
(DARIN MATTERN) "I don't think we'll play a team more athletic then them the entire season so our biggest challenge is we're going to have to keep them in front of us defensively and we're going to have to try and equalize them on the glass and I think we do that it should be a very good basketball game."
TIM WEGNER "We just gotta keep playing like we know we can coach puts us in positions to win all the time and we just gotta keep executing our plays working hard and working hard in practice. It starts in practice."
In 10 games played this season-- 5 players have 49 points or more including Freshman Dalton Feeney-- with 87 points-- Tied for third on his team.
Feeney is one of only 3 freshmen on a Varsity Roster in the W-D-A.-- and the only one who is starting--
He also leads the Patriots in three pointers knocking down 16 of his 32 attempted pretty good for a guy still in middle school.
" He understands how to play. He's made the transition from 8th grade basketball to the varsity level very well and like I said he's got a great feel for the game and he's a great competitor and he has a great work ethic and his willingness to get better on a daily basis obviously is gonna make him a better player and he brings it every day and any time you have a kid do that obviously he has a great chance to improve."
Feeney and the Patriots take on BHS at the Civic Center at 7:45 Thursday night.
The girls game begins at 6 that evening.
