A multi million dollar commitment is made in small town North Dakota.
Green Iron Equipment recently completed a 2 million dollar John Deere Dealership on the eastern edge of Ashley.
Ag Reporter Sarah Gustin takes you near the South Dakota border for the story.
Since the 60s this has been the home of the John Deere Store in Ashley.
Today that green paint has a new dealership to call home.
(Lyle Fey / Manager) "This is pretty much as good as it gets? Yeah, from what we had, it's a huge improvement."
This is Green Iron Equipment's new location on the eastern edge of Ashley.
Construction started on the John Deere Business in May, eight months later the building is complete.
Manager Lyle Fey says this new building more than triples the size of the old dealership downtown.
(Sarah Gustin / firstname.lastname@example.org) "Equipment increasing in size is a major reason for the expansion. Fye says a tractor like this barely fit in the old shop, as you can see there's now plenty of room."
(Lyle Fey / Manager) "The sales grew, the service requirements grew and the facilities that we have had, which we have had for nearly 40 years, we just simply outgrew. We ran out of space. To effectively continue to work with our customers and be able to meet their requirements we needed to do some expansion."
This 127x154 foot building is complete with a showroom, parts area, sales department even an overhead crane in the shop.
Plus more space and more equipment means more jobs.
(Kent Lovell / Ashley Mayor) "Should be a big benefit for the community. It's gonna add jobs and we get more traffic flowing through with customers of theirs."
(Lyle Fey / Manager) "We are looking to add at least 3-4 more techs, 1-2 more parts people. Our projections are in 3 years to add 7-8 people to the staff that we have now which would just about double our staff."
Green Iron is hosting an open house Friday afternoon at the new dealership, 1/2 mile east of Ashley on Highway 11.
