The North Dakota State Fair is asking the
legislature for help in paying for damages caused by the 2011 flood.
State Fair Manager, Renae Korslien, says the fair had $4.5 million in flood damage.
Their budget, which the Senate Appropriations approved this morning, gives $3.5 million to repair asphalt and gravel on the fair grounds, it also increases the amount of funds for premiums which are paid to 4-Her's.
The Senate Appropriations committee amended the bill with an emergency clause.
That will allow work to start on the flood repair as soon as the bill passes.
Korslien says, "all that moisture underneath just crumbled the asphalt and big trucks, it just crumbled it to nothing. might be able to get overlay or a portion of it done and gravel on those lots."
About $600,000 in other flood damage will be addressed in another bill.
The State Fair is set for July 19-27.
Korslien says the 2013 lineup will be announced soon.
